Kaka

Kaka Mohanwalia – Founder of Dharam Seva Records

Kaka Mohanwalia is the visionary founder of Dharam Seva Records, the world’s first Sikh non-profit music charity. Dharam Seva Records was born from Kaka’s deep desire to give back to the genre of Sikh spiritual music without the interference of commercial profits or exploitation. Unlike major Bollywood labels, which often mix spiritual music releases with projects promoting nightlife, drinking, and objectification.

Kaka believed Sikh spiritual music deserved a dedicated platform where all revenue could be reinvested into preserving and promoting this sacred art form. Kaka’s journey with Dharam Seva Records began as a life-changing mission. Once a non-practicing Sikh, he underwent a profound spiritual transformation, dedicating over 15 years to researching the depths of Sikh spirituality with groups and communities worldwide. From his childhood, Kaka had a strong connection to music and rhythm, playing instruments like the Dholki, Dhol, and Tabla from the age of seven. This passion later guided him to find his true calling in serving humanity through music.

Over the past three decades, Kaka has connected with some of the biggest names in the music industry, dedicating his life to learning and serving others. Although an artist himself, Kaka initially focused on supporting and uplifting other talents. While he collaborated on hit tracks with renowned Hit producer Aman Hayer in 2005 and 2008, it wasn’t until 2024 that he fully emerged as a singer and songwriter with the release of his monthly album series, ‘Let’s Hear You Singh’.

Kaka’s role in Dharam Seva Records extends far beyond being the founder. As the driving force behind the charity’s musical production, he guides every department, drawing on his vast Sikh knowledge and professional expertise. In addition to his musical pursuits, Kaka is an NLP-trained practitioner and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. He also served as the UK manager for Diljit Dosanjh, one of the biggest stars in Punjabi music, managing sold-out concerts at venues like the O2 Arena in Birmingham, the Glasgow Arena, and internationally. He has toured the world playing the Dhol and working behind the scenes as a promoter and manager, skills he now channels entirely into Dharam Seva Records.

Today, Kaka Mohanwalia’s mission is simple yet profound: ‘To Preserve the Past and Inspire the Future’ through music.
